Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated

Coca Cola LogoToday's Coca-Cola Consolidated looks very different from the company founded in 1902 by J. B. Harrison, great-grandfather of the company's present Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, J. Frank Harrison, III. A young entrepreneur from Chattanooga, TN, J. B. Harrison became one of the first Coca-Cola bottlers in the world when he purchased the Coca-Cola franchise in Greensboro, NC. At the turn of the 20th Century, Coca-Cola was purely a fountain drink sold at soda counters in drug stores. J. B. Harrison introduced the idea of drinking this new soft drink in bottles to consumers in North Carolina's Piedmont region. In a horse and wagon, he advertised the new delicacy with the now famous slogans "Drink Coca-Cola in Bottles" and "Now Served in Bottles at a Moment's Notice."
