Letter from Our Executive Director

Founder showing photo of him running to 2 CCFY boysWe are beginning our seventh season for the Cross-Country For Youth program. What an exciting time. What a blessing this has been for us. Although fantastic comes close to describing it, words cannot fully describe the impact that the program has had on the lives of our elementary and middle school youth. The character messages that they received were awe inspiring! The coaching on cross country running and nutrition facts were eye-opening and strong contributors to healthier students. And the competition between the schools was phenomenal.

Our Board of Directors has been very active in the life of the organization. Our volunteers have been like precious diamonds; contributing their time, knowledge and expertise to build stronger and wiser students by delivering the character messages and cross country training. Every aspect of the program was delivered with precision, compassion and confidence. We are so very proud of the entire team.

At the Appreciation Banquet you could see that there was something special about the youth who were receiving their character certificates. The banquet hall was overflowing with parents, family and friends and one could see their pride at being part of this unique program. When we played our CCFY video with student interviews you could hear a pin drop. It was a special moment.

We are immeasurably proud of our accomplishments and all of the people who made it possible; from the site coordinators at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools to the school administrators who embraced us; the generous donations of our sponsors to the tireless efforts of our volunteers; our community supporters and, of course our students' parents. But our greatest pride comes in the form of the young minds who gave us their attention and most of all their effort to help us realize the mission of our program “To impact the lives of youth with the skills they need to run cross country, and live healthy lives with character”.

This year is getting off to a great start. We will be having our Volunteer Kickoff event in our office at the Revolution Sports Academy.

Cross Country For Youth will be expanding its reach to park and recreation centers, home school students and to more elementary and middle schools in the Charlotte Metro area. We are looking forward to a stronger and deeper impact in the lives of youth ages 8-14, in 2014.

Blessings,

Reggie
